In Tantra every male deity is conceived as inseparable from an opposite female energy: in every man there is a reflection of a woman and in every woman that of a man.
Shiva and Shakti thus symbolize two opposite polarities, two absolute and eternal principles: the Masculine and the Feminine, which by uniting give life to the entire creation. Shiva cannot be conceived without the female half of him, Shakti. He can become active and can access his power only when the energy of Shakti gives him strength. Shakti, on the other hand, will not be able to manifest her passion and her love for him without relying on her own Shiva.
Each woman, identifying herself with Shakti, will assimilate her specific attributes. She will begin to manifest a splendid light, but also a delicacy, an inner grace and therefore her love. Similarly, every man, identifying himself with Shiva, will assimilate his specific attributes. He will begin to manifest his conscious presence, but also his calmness and ability to give support and value and therefore his strength.
The conjunction of Shiva and Shakti is symbolic of the drive to bring together awareness and energy, strength and love within and without.
When these two aspects are in balance we feel more complete and lighter, with a new quality in our relationships.
Through grounding and conscious breathing techniques, tantric meditations, dance and much more, we will rediscover and celebrate this joyful balance together.
